Accessibility
Effiot is built so that everyone can prepare for their certification exam, whatever device or assistive technology they use. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on each page, and focus is always visible.
- Headings, landmarks and lists are real HTML, so screen readers can navigate by structure. Icons that only decorate are hidden from assistive technology.
- Text and interface colours meet at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall on touch screens.
- Pages adapt from small phones to large monitors without horizontal scrolling, and text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
- Animation and smooth scrolling are switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Practice tests announce the remaining time when it runs low, show results as text as well as colour, and let you mark questions for review from the keyboard.
- Forms label every field, explain errors in words next to the field, and never rely on colour alone.
Known limitations
- Sign-in and payment are provided by Clerk and Razorpay. We configure them for accessibility, but their interfaces are maintained by those companies.
- The online code editor is a rich text area. It supports screen readers, and you can press Escape to leave the editor with Tab.
- Question content is written by course authors. We require descriptions for images; tell us if one is missing.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of Effiot is hard to use, email support@effiot.com with the page address and what happened. We reply within two working days and treat accessibility problems as bugs to fix, not feature requests.
